If I may be so kind, I will lead this letter by addressing your whole state of being.
Frankly, you are a hypocrite. I do not think you, in your current state, deserve to exist on this planet.
In other words? Fuck you.
This is for me. No...This is for all the boys and girls who don't feel as if they are worthy enough of love, or acceptance, or living. This is for all the boys and girls who feel as though they are nothing. This is for all the boys and girls who return home from school every day, just to sob into their pillow, for maybe being ugly, or stupid, or gay. This is for all the boys and girls around the world, who live in horror, but never get airplay of their events.
This is for us all.
In every one of my years, I have never been so upset.
You see, Society, you like to tell us that we are all beautiful, gorgeous, handsome beings! You tell us that we're smart and intelligent. You say the color of our skin does not matter. You put us in the mindset that if we work hard enough, we can achieve anything our big hearts dare to dream.
Then, you stab us in the back.
Et tu, Brute?
Words are nothing without action, and from my view, all your words are empty pits. You tell us to be ourselves, yet you show us there is only one way to act. We either fit in, or we are ridiculed.
We are pushed around and bullied. We are forever branded as outcasts.
You tell us women that we are beautiful just the way we are, but oh? You show us that we aren't beautiful unless we have the right face, the right legs, the right eyes, and the right shape.
We are not gorgeous if we cannot walk like this, or if our hair does not flow like that, or if we do not want to adhere to the twisted idea of what us women should be and how us women should behave.
And don't forget the men! Yes. You show them that only certain looking men get the most beautiful women. If you do not have these features, then no women in her right mind will ever love you.
You ostracize us at every turn and bend, sucking out anything we could have thought about ourselves to be good. Only the lucky ones get away, being born the right way, but somehow even they are made to feel a little less too.
There's our skin also, as if the amount of melanocytes activated in our skin determines how we should be treated. Yet you said to us only our personality matters, but then again, society always lies.
You pretend racism is not here, yet it exists everywhere we turn. No matter if you're 'black', 'yellow', 'brown', or 'white', we are separated from our brothers and sisters based on dark or light.
When will these colors just become that? Colors?
We are not colors, but humans, and we should be treated as such.
Everyone is a genius in their own ways you say, yet you brand us with A's or B's or C's or D's or F's. You separate us not on our true intelligence, but on how well we can follow the system you set forth for us.
We are not taught how to think, but what to think. If we refuse to think in your set ways, then obviously we must have some brain deficiency. We will never be as 'smart' as the rest.
What measures the true value of our brains? Who are you to say?
We all have different talents, yet we must hide most every day, in fear that our talents are not good enough for you, Society.
Society, as I hope you will see, we are not happy with the way you have been running things. I've barely touched on these topics, but I hope it's enough for you to understand that we should not be separated, but rather, walk hand in hand freely.
We are consumed by unimportant events, and we ignore what really needs attention, and I am sick of it.
It is a good thing that I am Society. We all are.
And we need change.
A Girl With A Pen.
